DISCIPLESHIP

As the writer to the Hebrews put it, "the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart" (Heb. 4:12). God works through His Word to bring life and light into our world. As Lutheran Christians, we believe the Holy Spirit is at work through Scripture. There we are confronted with how we have fallen short of God's design for life; however, it also assures us of the forgiveness and certain hope that we have in Jesus, the Messiah, God's own Son.

Learning what God teaches in His Word is a significant part of how we grow as disciples and followers of Christ at St. John's. We regularly offer a number of courses and opportunities -- ranging from introductory to in-depth -- for Bible study and discussion. From the very young through the not-as-young-as-they-once-were, St. John's seeks to engage everyone in learning, experiencing that transformation of life which comes through Christ alone.
